SHERATON PORTSMOUTH AND SEACOAST BEVERAGE LAB PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCED
Sheraton Welcomes Brian Aldrich on Board as In-House Beer Master
November 12, 2013 – Sheraton Portsmouth announced today that they will be adding Brian Aldrich to their team in continued efforts to be the craft beer destination hotel in the seacoast. Sheraton Portsmouth has been increasingly adding craft beer options to their menu since Robert Cartwright came on as General Manager in 2012. Robert’s background includes a previous engagement as a consultant working directly for Greg Koch, Founder & CEO, at Stone Brewing Company in Escondido, Ca. When asked about the decision to bring a Beer Master on board, Robert shared: “Our guests, and consumers in general, are starting to understand that the complexity and flavors available in beer are deep and wide-ranging. Sheraton Portsmouth is truly the only craft beer destination hotel in the area – it’s a great place to stay and experience great craft beer. We love beer, and we love our community. We will continue to support and nurture the partnerships we’ve developed with so many of the local breweries including Smuttynose Brewing Co. and our close neighbors, Earth Eagle Brewings. Bringing Brian on board with us will only help to further spread the passion for great beer and the great experiences we can provide for all visitors to the Seacoast area.”
In 2013, Sheraton hosted a beer pairing dinner featuring Greg Koch and paired Executive Chef Garth Lynde’s cuisine with Stone Cali-Belgique IPA , Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale, Stone IPA, Stone Smoked Porter and Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale. In April of this year Sheraton added four taps to Riverwatch Lounge to feature craft beer options for their guests, which has been received to resounding reviews by guests and local patrons.
As Beer Master, Brian will work closely with the team to select the hotel’s craft beer offerings, and assist in hosting a variety of craft beer themed events in the coming year. Brian resides in the Seacoast and has been writing about beer since 2009. His personal beer blog and podcast Seacoast Beverage Lab is devoted to showcasing craft beer, craft beer destinations and the brewers who work hard to make the beer. Brian has a passion to seek out great craft beer wherever he travels and loves making recommendations to friends and family. As Sheraton’s Beer Master, Brian hopes to provide guests with a unique experience offered by no other hotel, "I have been writing about craft beer on the Seacoast for three years. When I travel across the country I always do my own research to locate the best beer around my hotel. As Beer Master, I will make the planning easier for guests and allow them to enjoy the Portsmouth and its many craft beer offerings. With eight breweries within twelve miles of the hotel, as well as the many offerings at the hotel bar, I will make sure your stay at Sheraton, be it one evening or a week, is a craft beer experience you will recommend to your friends and family."
