The Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel is a proud participant of the New Hampshire Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant Program. Awarded the Environmental Champion Certification in 2006, we continue to be focused on sustainable hotel practices. From lighting and temperature controls, to recycling and composting, the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and improving sustainable practices at every level of operations.
Currently this hotel participates in green practices, such as:
- Linen and towel reuse program in our guest rooms
- Low flow faucets and shower heads in our guest rooms
- Recycling bins added to all guest rooms
- Recycling practiced property-wide
- Composting of food waste using compostable trash bags
- Recycle printer cartridges and batteries
- Use of CFL Bulbs
- Use of Energy Star appliances and equipment
- Partnership with a local charitable organization to donate unexpired food
- Furniture donation
- Office paper contains 30% recycled materials
- Toilet tissue, facial tissue and paper hand towels property wide are made from recycled materials
- Regular scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC and kitchen maintenance
- Temperature setting and drapery standards in guest room and office space
- Transition to motion detector light switches in all closets and storage areas
- Green Meetings initiative: electronic sales communication, meeting impact report, social conscious meeting programs, sustainable menu items
Other initiatives scheduled for 2010 include:
* Local food procurement and sustainable menu items to be sourced and added
* Transition to paper goods containing recycled and/or compostable materials
* Reduce the use of florescent lighting
